Well the new year is here and it's time to reflect! The Covid pandemic definitely made an impact on certain list items. Tasks that involve going places or attending events are out the window for now. I also got a diagnosis for fibromyalgia and that has effected what I'm able to do as well. It has been a really unpleasant learning experience to find out what my body can and can't do now. Although this year was a bit rocky I don't want to let it completely derail my 101 goals! I'm starting my year off by going through my list and picking out the tasks I know I can get done this year if I put my mind to it. My word of the year this year is "progress", so my focus for 2021 is to keep up some momentum with the tasks I've started and try to at least make some progress every day. The tasks I want to prioritize at the start of this year are: -Add 100 songs to my beach playlist (I'm at 63 songs on my playlist, so I'm almost there!) -Celebrate a national holiday once a week for a month -Cook dinner for someone other than myself (I'm having a little trouble standing at a stove these days, but I have some good days so I want to make sure I make dinner for my parents sometime soon!) -Create a morning routine and stick to it for 30 consecutive days (Mornings have become especially hard, so this one is a challenge. I just think it would be a helpful habit to have.) -Do a 30 exercise challenge (This is also going to be a challenge. I think in order to accomplish this I'll have to find some low impact, gentle work outs that I can do without triggering fatigue.) -Do yoga once a week for a month (This goes along with the last one, so I want to try my best but I'm not sure what I'll be able to do.) -Draw a self-portrait in 3 styles -Drink the proper amount of water for a week -Finish Khan Academy math course (This one is in progress! I feel good about this one.) -Finish Russian Rosetta Stone (This one is daunting, but I want to stick with it.) -Get a new job (This one is also in progress. My fibromyalgia has made it incredibly difficult to get out of bed, get dressed, brush my hair etc., so a work from home gig could be so helpful to me. I've applied a few places, but it's tricky. There are a lot of sketchy job postings for remote positions and I don't want to get caught up in any scams or call centers.) -Get at least 7 hours of sleep for 30 consecutive days -Keep a dream log and write down at least 20 dreams (I've started this one, but don't update it frequently enough! I want to get more consistent with writing down my dreams.) -Learn 100 new Russian words (This has also been started. I just don't do a great job at keeping track of which words I'm learning. I'm writing a Russian word of the day in my journal this year which should help!) -Learn Russian cursive (Another task that's in progress! I feel like I need to practice more often so that I can retain it.) -Learn Tarot Reading (I have two books on Tarot that I want to get through before I cross this off my list. I plan on pulling a card for each month and then doing a spread for each new moon and full moon this year. I feel confident that I can check this off my list this year!) -Learn to locate the 50 states on a map -Listen to 26 new bands - one for each letter of the alphabet (This is started. The letters I still need are B, E, F, K, N, O, P, Q, R, U, X, Y & Z.) -Listen to 3 new podcasts (I started this and realized I don't like listening to podcasts. Haha. I'm determined to try out two more though. -Make a vision board -Memorize all U.S. presidents in order -Nap on the beach (I live in Florida... why has this taken so long to do?! I need more beach days in 2021.) -One week of only art, reading and music -Organize filing cabinet and receipts -Read 10 Classics -Say a daily affirmation every day for two months (The affirmation I've picked is "I know with absolute certainty that I am making progress towards my goals." which I got from the Affirm Your Life Blog. -Track calories every day for a month -Watch 3 TED Talks The reason why I want to tackle those tasks is because they feel attainable. They don't require going out to places that may not be safe now due to Covid. Some of them have been started already, which makes them a little less intimidating. I feel optimistic and excited, although there is some underlying dread. I can't deny that when I see I only have 516 days left to complete my list I feel overwhelmed. But that's why I listed my main goals here. It helped me to focus a little instead of being daunted by the whole list.
Wish me luck this year!
